Darryl Briggs' Glamour Photography Clubs are the largest and most active in both DFW and Texas, recently expanding into Arkansas and Oklahoma. Events are regularly scheduled and include a wide range of events such as photography workshops, club shoots (where the photographers get to decide on sets and lighting), instructional classes, and even social events.
Everyone is welcome whether you are an experienced photographer or if you just received your camera yesterday. Our members are some of the friendliest and most helpful photographers around, and are always willing to share photography information and help newcomers.
We shoot on location, as well as in our well equipped studios. Our principal interest is glamour photography, but you are sure to learn principles that apply to many other forms of photography. Furthermore, we have "sister" clubs that we do all our non-glamour events through.
The main goal of all our photoshoot events is for you to learn and improve your skills, network with other photographers and models, and leave with images that you will be proud to add to your portfolio.
We use professional models as well as professional hair and make-up artists. We have an extensive range of photo equipment for use whether on location or in the studio. When we do shoot in the studio, our studio provides you with many options for backgrounds and special effects.
In short, if you join the Glamour Photography Club of Texas - Houston Chapter, you'll have the opportunity to create images with some of the most beautiful models in the industry, expand your portfolio, network with others who share your passion for photography, and expand your knowledge of photography. We also have many social functions on our calendar. These are great events to come out to, meet myself and other club members, and find out what we are all about.

We meet formally once per month at a local restaurant. But formal is not what we are about at all. This group loves to create wonderful images. We enjoy great company and we strive to learn to shoot new and beautiful images. We have a whole group of folks that also meets at least once a month to learn the digital darkroom we call photoshop. They meet at Panera Bread on the Gulf Freeway. Watch the site for their meetings. You can see that we try to cover the broad area of art called photography.
Don't think that you need a fancy camera to enjoy the group. Our members take great shots with everything from Point and Shoot cameras to DSLR gear. Amateurs and pros are members, so don't be afraid to come visit us at one of the monthly meetings or at a shoot.

In December of 2008 Photojournalist Kevin Vandivier founded TGOP and late 2010 Pulitzer Prize winning Photojournalist Skeeter Hagler joined Vandivier to help carry out the goals and vision that brought TGOP into existence. Both photographers bring years of incredible success in the field of photography to TGOP. Hagler began his career professionally in the early 1970's and over the years has won mutiple awards and has been published in many of the top magazines including National Geographic Magazine where he landed the cover on his very first assignment. Vandivier began his professional career in the late 1970's and would manage to win a few awards for his work as well. Vandivier also has been published in many of the top magazines including the original Life Magazine where he also landed a cover on his first assignment.
Vandivier credits much of his talent to the early mentoring he received from both Skeeter Hagler and Skeeters best friend Jay Dickman who has also won the Pulitzer Prize and continues to shoot for National Geographic Magazine along with founding the highly acclaimed Firstlight Workshops. In fact it was in part his gratitude for the mentoring he had received from others that led him to found TGOP where he would facilitate meetings to bring professional photographers together in community with emerging photographers.
The hope was that mentoring would happen as relationships were built through these meetings. Photographers learn not just how to take better photos, but how not to fall into traps where they work for free for inappropriate organizations and overall best industry business practices. In addition TGOP has encouraged both pros and amateurs in their ongoing projects through presenting 2 minute shows and having the work critiqued professionally.
Also as many professionals already know, nothing is more encouraging when someone admires your work hanging in a show. Then to top it all off nothing compares to when someone is willing to take very hard earned cash out of their pocket to purchase the work of a photographer and then hang it on the wall to look at and share with others for the next 15-20 years if not longer. So, to help facilitate amateurs and some pros to enjoy this kind of experience TGOP finds professional venues willing to hang group shows consisting of juried works from TGOP members in each city biannually.
Currently, TGOP operates in four Texas cities, Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. At the same time TGOP will be developing various photo competitions and workshops along with expanding this websites utilitarine functions toward empowering photographers abilities to organize and strategically promote and sell their photography succesffully!
For people who are interested in or learning Japnese language and culture. It will be a great place to practice Japanese or exchange/share your interests in the culture. Native Japanese are of course encouraged to participate d(^_^)b

This is mainly to get together with like minded people that have a love for sailing and just have fun. You do not need any experience or need to own a boat. We use the strollers, environment and exercise tubing for a really fun 1 hour workout. And we definitely keep the little ones entertained! We are going sailing. We have some events on a performance oriented racer, J/105. and other events aboard a J/80. Members come to learn about sailing and actively participate in sailing the vessel, or just relax out on Galveston Bay and turn off the cell phone. Everyone is welcome to join the group, come sailing and meet new friends.
The J/105 (34') "Zippity" events will be 4-5 hour romps on the Bay going upwind and blasting back down with the spinnaker. This is an exciting ride. You'll learn about sail trim, sail handling and the team work needed to sail well.
The J80 is 26' and a pure rocket ship out on the Bay. It is more physically challenging, and you might get wet. Proper gear for the weather conditions is necessary.
Please make sure you have on proper sailing shoes or white soled tennis style shoes (bare feet ok), and clothing appropriate for the season. The Message Board has more information, too.

The Houston Gay Couples Meetup Group aims to help GLBT couples in Houston to meet one another in a fun and laid-back atmosphere. In a community that is not very relationship-affirming and focuses on gathering in bars and clubs, we hope to provide an alternative. The healthcare cost in the U.S. is the highest in the world, yet our life expectancy is ranked 50th in the world, and the overall health level at 72nd. Just look around us. Obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer are on the rise across the age groups. Chronically ill children have grown up to be chronically ill adults. No doubt, our healthcare system is failing us. Too much emphasis is put on sickness. As a matter of fact, 93% of healthcare dollars are spent on treating illnesses while only 7% on prevention.
Many of us are finally pushed to look at alternative options. With the Internet, resources to make sound decisions surrounding our well-being are now available to everyone. The truth is that each of us has the power within to achieve wellness. By taking good care of ourselves and including exercise and supplementation in our daily regimen, we can reduce in likelihood of common issues and illnesses. Examine our lifestyle and behavior. The purpose of this meetup group is to bring together local producers, cinematographers, editors, actors, screenwriters, and other technical media people in the surrounding Pearland area to learn more about independent film making, pursue independent film projects, gain more exposure to the Texas film industry, and to enjoy the experience of film making and all it encompasses.

In Black Girls Rock Houston, we will participate in many different fun activities such as: shopping, dining, wine tasting, happy hours, traveling, private parties, bowling, movies, skating, and occasional club venues.
The purpose of this group is to bring together families that enjoy camping in the outdoors.
A family can be just about anything these days. This is not a "Singles" group. We host activities that are geared toward everyone. We ask that others be tolerant of children and well behaved pets.

Local meetup of area widows/widowers or those who have lost a significant other. All ages are welcome though the main purpose is to have a place for younger widows/widowers to meet people.
I hope even younger widows/widowers than me will be active. The loss of your partner is the same if you are 60 or 20 and not wanting to give up on life. I hope for this site to enable us to meet new friends we can identify with no matter our age, and a place younger widows/widowers with children to raise as an "only" parent can meet and help one another. Many of us have found that we don't fit in anywhere anymore and our old friends went away since we are not a couple anymore.
We have a monthly dinner and gab session and try to do other fun activites to get out of the house and be with people who understand the loss we have suffered.
This is not a deep grief counseling group, per se. Yes, we will be there for those who are in deep grief to help them through it as much as we can but we are also a social group where we can do things where we "fit in" instead of being alone because we feel we don't fit in the "singles scene" or we feel like we are a 5th wheel now.

This is a friendly but focused group. We work in 45 minute SILENT sessions with a short break.
It is not a critique group, not a writing class, not a plotting or brainstorming party and not a workship. We work QUIETLY together.
It is for writers who would like the structure and energy of working around other writers, but don't want the time to be spent in time-killing chit-chat.
Writers meet at Starbucks across from Bay Brook Mall. We can sit together or you can find a place on one of the easy chairs or get your own table. I try to snag the big table if I can and run an extension cord for everyone's laptops.
At the main table, respect your work and other people's boundaries and the need to concentrate.
When you need a break or want to socialize with other writers, please feel free to leave the table and grab some coffee and have a chat.
The focus is to get out of neutral, feel the support and energy of other writers and get to work on dreaded manuscript in a comfortable environment.

The Mindfulness Practice Community of Houston (MPC-Houston) is a community of lay practitioners inspired by the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh (Plum Village). Come hang out for a no pressure, no commitment, no hassle, haggles, or judgment environment. Check your worries, fears, self consciousness and preconceived notions at the door and engage in pure, clean, fun, and, who knows? By the end of the night, you MIGHT just pour yourself a big bowl of date served with a giant side of potential. (Or at least an appetizer of fun to share with others.)

Derrel Sims, over a span of more than 3 decades is a full time UFO Researcher with a specific interest in medical/scientific evidence of human/alien contact.
Sims feels that people who claim of contact with the alien presence should offer evidence of their positions. We are a private group for tweens & teens diagnosed with Aspergers or similar high-functioning conditions, such as; High-functioning Autism, PDD, OCD, 2E & ADHD. The ages of our members range from approximately 10 yrs. - 18 yrs.
Our members have a VERY special friendship between themselves. They seem to realize that the other members have been subjected to the same challenges & difficulties that go hand-in-hand in living with a high-functioning disability.
Our group provides a safe place for our special tweens and teens to be themselves. The parents and siblings are also invited to join us! The general area for our events include Houston & surrounding areas; Pasadena, Deer Park, Pearland, Webster, Friendswood, Clearlake, and Texas City.
We like to have birthday parties, meet at public recreational places, swim, and bowl. All members have the opportunity to create a meetup - anything that sounds like fun! :)
The goal of The Starlight Brigade is to bring our special kids together and give them an opportunity to make friends they can relate to. Our members have their own ways of expressing themselves, and we accept and understand them for being SPECIAL & UNIQUE!!

I live in the League City Area and it's difficult to make other book clubs that are all the way on the other side of Houston. I decided it would be fun to start up a book club which meets once a month. We can chow, chat and choose another book for the next time. All women are welcome meaning that if you read, possess a sense of humor and have absolutely zero drama, you're welcome here. The focus of the group will be mostly fiction unless someone can recommend an entertaining non-fiction book. My tastes lie in Urban Fantasy, paranormal (a la Jim Butcher and Kim Harrison) but I will read mostly anything that is put in front of me. I also enjoy cozy mysteries, the occasional romance and for some reason Idiot Guides. I have a disturbing amount in my closet.

We are seeking people to be Event Organizers to host one-time or recurring events of different levels and locations. It would be great to have some mommy walks, dog walks, and marathon training walks on the calendar!
If you want to motivate yourself to walk regularly, the best way is to commit to hosting a regular walk. Recurring events can be posted daily, weekly, monthly, or sporadically. You will attract regular walkers to your events and get to know some really great people. Check out our calendar!

I started this group to invite anyone living in Houston and in areas surrounding Houston to come out and enjoy all flavors of life. Food is such an important part of our lives why not make it a meaningful experience. My vision is to have people from all walks of life come together to learn about one another's culture, and the food associated with that culture. Sometimes we miss out on the experience of how to truly enjoy certain cuisines because no one was there to educate us about the proper etiquette on how, why and where certain dishes are to be eaten. Anyone interested in having a deeper experience seasoned with much fun should join us on the third weekend each month in our dining experience! What is Tree House Tots all about?
Most of us are part of the NE Houston communities of Kingwood, Humble, Atascocita, Fall Creek, and Summerwood! We formed this group with hopes of building and growing lasting relationships for ourselves and our children!!
We all come from different walks of life, and for this reason we strive to provide our members with a variety of calendar activities that take place around our communities, and suit to everyone's taste!! Some of these activities may include:

But we can't do it all without you!!!! That is why we ask our members to stay active!! And to do so, we ask that each of our moms attend at least two of our events per month, and contribute by 'hosting' or organizing once a quarter. Easy enough. . . And don't worry if you cant host playdates in your home, we understand!! You can host an event wherever you choose! You can do this at a park, the zoo, or even organize an MNO at a restaurant or nail spa! Simply said, by organizing an event, you are responsible for emailing an organizer with all of your event info, i.e. date, time, place and maximum # of attendees.
But why the requirements, you ask?
We want to bring energy and excitement to everyone's lives. We want our kids to enjoy their childhood and discover new things. Sometimes we need the help and encouragement of others. That is why our group is about getting together, and getting to know each other. And we have to "MEET UP" if we want to do so!!!
Houston has so many wonderful venues and things to offer!! The more hosting and organizing of events we have, the more we get to explore and discover these wonderful things with our kids and our families.
This group is mainly for our kids, but we all could use some Mommy time, or a night out with our spouse to reenergize and relax from our everyday lives!! This is why we have an attendance and organizing policy. The more you attend, the more you'll enjoy our group. And, when you suggest and organize events of your liking, you and your family benefit the most!!
Is my little one too young to be in a playgroup?
Our members have kids ranging in age from newborns to about 5 years!! Expectant mommies are also welcome! And because our moms organize and 'create' our calendar, you can be sure there will always be activities geared towards your kiddo's age!! And don't forget that older siblings are always welcome, too!

Our names are Carrie and Michelle.
Here's a little info on each of us: Carrie - Age 33 with 2 children. My 8 year old son has Aspergers Syndrome. He has severe ADHD and Anxiety Disorder as well all stemming from the Aspergers.
Michelle - Age 37 with 3 children. My 7 year old son has Crudichat Syndrome.
Both of our sons have been diagnosed with these conditions on the mild end but still we are facing challenges due to these diagnosis. We've been friends for years but what we've found out recently is that there is something about having a special needs child that gives us a bond that no one else can understand or explain unless they have stepped into our shoes.
We both looked for local support groups but we found that there isn't a lot out there. We are both strong women and we have now started a local support group of our own; one that is for mothers of children with special needs, any special needs. We've decided to call it "Forever Woven: In our shoes but in His hands".
We believe that our community strongly needs something like this to support the families that are going through these challenges and if nothing else, it will be a great way for us all to take a break from our home and our lives and to vent to friends that also walk in our shoes.
We will meet on the first Friday of every month from 6pm to 8pm at the Pearland Public Library, just the mothers. We will support each other and sometimes we will have special informative speakers. We would also like to have separate get togethers with our children/husbands involved too.
We hope to eventually develop a non-profit organization as well as a website and try to help support local families going through the same challenges that we are.
We are both passionate about God, our children, and about being advocates for them and helping others in the community who may be facing the same struggles that we are or have in the past.

Ich wollte mal eine Gruppe eröffnen wo sich Mutter und Kinder mal treffen können. Es ist doch schön mal dinge auszutauschen und einfach nur nett in der runde zu sitzen und zu reden, waerend unsere Kinder miteinander spielen und sich auch anfreunden.
Die Mamies in unserer Gruppe super nett und verstreut ueber ganz Houston, daher sind alle Muetter in Houston willkommen sich uns anzuschliessen, dann wird es einfacher Spieltreffen auf bestimmte Areas in Houston zu verteilen.
Die Kinder in unserer Gruppe sind in gemischen alter, starten schon bei 6 wochen bis 7 Jahre, und auch ein paar aeltere, aber die meisten sind im Vorschulalter.
Viele unserer Treffen sind bei Mietgliedern zuhause, aber ich versuche auch mal Treffen an Offentlichen Plaezten zu veranstallten, damit wir aus allen Stadtteilen zusammen kommen koennen. Diese Meetups finden dann in Downtown stadt.

This is for students over 21 interested in becoming licensed clergy. It is an intense training course with written lessons to be submitted on a routine basis. Upon completing this structured three year course you can become legal clergy.
This is a family oriented group but focused on adult students because of the requirements. Our Sabbat rituals are usually open to friends and family. While we are a serious study group we also enjoy having parties after our rituals, class field trips, and retreats to places such as Hot Springs and Galveston.

We are basically a Morning Coffee and Evening Happy Hour Group, and we try to schedule an average of one event per week. We also have a Book Club that meets once a month, and occasionally we have couple events and other activities. We are a close group of women, yet we continue to welcome all other ladies who wish to form true friendships. Once you have completed your studies, you can become licensed clergy. As a student, you will have lessons that will be turned in on a routine basis. Due to the nature of this training, we ask that you be 21 years of age, motivated and serious about the Craft.

I work full time outside of the home. I am an Administrative Assistant for Andrews Kurth LLP. I love my job and am absolutely BLESSED to work for three of the best Corporate/Securities attorneys there. I've been with AK for almost 13 years.
My hobby is Scrapbooking. I love that so much that in 2006 I signed up to become a consultant with Close to my Heart. We sell a multitude of products for the very beginner all the way to the most advanced. I love our clear stamps & blocks and the fact that all of our inks, accessories, paper, etc. match or are very color-coordinated!
My main interest for our group is to get together on occasions for a day or weekend of scrapbooking. It's just more fun to scrapbook with friends than it is to scrap alone. I also hold monthly workshops, which are called our "Workshops on the Go".

Because they rarely took the time to play and it sounded like fun, the word spread quickly and the group grew to twenty. Before the golf "event" (the word "tournament" sounded too serious for this group of hard working women), they all exchanged their bios and contact information and were humbled and excited about their collective business acumen and experience. The women were excited about getting to know each other and it wasn't long before they reconvened at a 5-course wine dinner at a restaurant owned by one of the women. Once again, the word spread that there was an exciting and fun group of women meeting and exchanging business between themselves and so forty women signed up for the dinner. By the next golf event, the network had doubled again to over eighty women. What had started as the Women's Golf Network quickly evolved to the Women's Global Network.
Today, the Women's Global Network meets monthly and events include golf, dinners, cruises, music and content rich panels guaranteed to help women grow their businesses. WGN is a support community of women who respect each other, working in integrity and who want to ensure the success of every member.

We are parents who are ready for anything!! From a simple diaper to the kind that requires rubber gloves! :) This group is designed for little ones from birth to age 3. Older siblings are of course welcome. This is designed more for stay-at-home moms, but there will be activities on the weekends also (such as family outings or cook-outs). We will have playdates around Pearland and Houston area. We will also have playdates at anyone's house who volunteers (of course we have to meet you first).
I love to run around and play with my son. I also have a teenage daughter who loves to be around little kids. Hi there! The reason I decided to start this group is because I am already a member of a few other mom groups, but it seems like I am quite a bit older (42) than most of the other moms with young children like me in those groups! They are all still very friendly I just thought that starting a group of "older Mom's to younger children" might be a good way to find some more friends closer to my age! I am the mom to a 3.5 year old boy, so the main purpose of this group is to get together with Mom's in my age group that have kiddos close to the same age as my son so that the mommies can get to know each other while the kids entertain themselves! I am also a little on the crafty side and have been dabbling in the couponing craze so you never know what kind if meet ups I might come up with to keep ourselves entertained!! We are a diverse group of moms with a wide age range of children. Our purpose is not only to have a fun playgroup to take our children to but to form great friendships between the mothers as well. Being a part of a mom's group can be like having your own support group; a place for you to talk about your day and get some advice and at the same time share your child's milestones and accomplishments. These friendships are made and fostered at play dates and then built up on the message boards. This group is the ORIGINAL Clear Lake Area Walking Group, since 2006! This group is for anyone in the Clear Lake and Galveston County area who is interested in walking for fun or for health and exercise. The group is open to men and women of all ages, as long as you like to walk. Dogs and baby strollers are welcome at most walks, depending on the location.
We walk at different locations and have various weekly walks set up to accommodate everyone's busy schedule. The walks are as easy or as strenuous as YOU want them. We are all volunteers here, and we welcome all members hosting or suggesting walks.

T .A.M.E. is a club of people with the love for riding motorcycles.
We have been around since 1993. Over the years we have ridden many miles over the state of Texas. Traveling all the back roads for the beautiful scenery and twisting roads of Texas. We have also ridden to many other states on rides ranging from 7 days to 21 days.
We are a club that loves to ride, to eat and have a great time with good friends. We ride with safety as our main goal. We ride all types of bikes from large scooters to large touring bikes like the Goldwing and every thing in between. Smaller Scooters are welcome but must be able to maintain a minimum speed of 65 mph. Nothing under 250 cc allowed.
We meet on the second Thursday of the month at Kelly's Restaurant in Alvin on Hwy 35 just north of FM 517. The meeting usually starts after dinner at 7pm. We try to eat about 6:30. Kellys gives us the room at no charge so we eat there.
We meet on Saturday for breakfast We usually have an away breakfast to a different restaurant once a month.
At our meetings we have a 50/50 drawing to help with club costs.
TAME will no longer except members with out a bike. Spouses, children, and any one who is a backseat
passenger on a members bike is not required to own a bike.

What's the difference between a RKC Instructor and your typical personal trainer?
The Russian Kettlebell Challenge program is not just a trainer certification, but a school of strength. A school proud of what it stands for: the gold standard of instruction, integrity, and quiet professionalism.
The RKC is a School of Strength where emphasis is placed on developing movement patterns rather than training specific muscle groups. As an RKC, my goal is to help my students enjoy quality pain free movement while reaching their health, fitness and performance goals.
We are disciples of strength and conditioning governed by principles and methods of quality movement. The Russian Kettlebell is the tool of choice that helps make these movements better.
A kettlebell is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle.
The term 'kettlebell' 1st appeared in a Russian dictionary in 1704. This gives them roughly a 300 year history. The Russian magazine Hercules reported on kettlebells in 1913 saying;
"Not a single sport develops our muscular strength and bodies as well as kettlebell athletics."
Kettlebells were originally used as counter weights in in Russian markets where rugged countrymen began tossing them around at fairs and circuses to show off their superhuman strength. Russians value physical strength and it was quite an honor to be considered a "strongman." Kettlebells quickly became a matter of Russian national pride and a symbol of strength.
Eventually, the Russian military picked up on the extraordinary benefits of kettlebell lifting and started to use them to train their elite soldiers, which was roughly every male between the ages 14-40. Fast forward a few 100 years and you have your answer to why the Russians "smoked" us during the Olympic Games.
Another 20 years will get us to where we are today when Pavel Tsatsouline, former Soviet Special Forces instructor, brought the secret Russian principles of strength and conditioning to the US Special Forces.
It did not take long for professional athletes, competitive strongmen, fire/police personnel, and weekend warriors to experience extraordinary benefits from Russian Kettlebell training.

This group is setup for fun! Through having fun, we will establish close bonds with each other, as well as, build lifelong friendships for our children. Our playdates include: playdates at member's houses, parks, the splash pad on McClean, and in Houston (museums, the zoo, etc.).
Since I'm pretty busy, just as you are, I could sure use some help with this group-- if you'd like to be an Assistant Organizer (even if it's just once or twice a year), that would really help the group run more smoothly and have more fun. There are many moms here and each have their own interests. How wonderful it would be to be turned on to someone else's interest and find that you enjoy it too?

This community group is for anyone looking to get involved with any aspect of theatre in Pearland. People who want to perform onstage in any capacity, perhaps work backstage, or people who want to sit in the audience close to home and see a good show are welcome to join this meetup group!

We are a group of women that love to read! We are not the casual readers, rather we tend to read multiple books during any given month and love to have great conversations about the characters and plot of each book.
Because we meet at restaurants in the Clear Lake area, our members are predominately from the Southeast side of Houston (La Porte, Deer Park, Pasadena, Clear Lake, Webster, Friendswood, Pearland, Alvin, Santa Fe, League City, Galveston, Texas City).

1.When does the book club meet? We typically meet the 3rd Saturday of each month. When we have authors meeting with us, we will have two meetings that month. In cases such as those, we will spread the meetings to the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.
2. What times are book meetings held? We alternate meeting times. We either meet from 5-7pm or 11a-1pm.
3. Where are book meetings held? We meet at local restaurants in the Clear Lake area. Occasionally, we meet at member's homes.
4. What kinds of books does the book club read? We read Women's Fiction, Historical Fiction, Contemporary Fiction, Biographies/Memories, Mystery. Books we typically do NOT read are: Science Fiction, Vampire books, Mystical/Paranormal, Self-Help, and Romance Fiction (although, we do read books where there may be a love relationship, it's not about the main storyline and it isn't too sexual).
5. Who are the members of the book club? We consist of a group of women, all ages and different life/work backgrounds. We have SAHM, college aged students, working moms, working single women, divorced, married, retired, widowed, etc. We are a diverse group of women and love to meet to talk about books.
6. How many members attend book meets? We typically have 10-25 members attend book meets each month. It truly varies depending on the book selection and since members only have to attend one book meet per 3 months, you will have an opportunity to meet all the members.
7. How often do I have to attend a book meet? Per book club requirements, you can attend a minimum of 1 book meet every 3 months.
8. How much are membership fees? The cost to join is $10 for the year, which are non-refundable. These fees cover the cost of the meetup page, door prizes, meeting place fees, and supplies. You can pay through Paypal or by cash/check, with checks payable to: Lisa Salazar
9. What are the book club requirements? To attend a minimum of 1 book meet every 3 months, visit the meetup page once a month, pay membership fees, read the book prior to attending a book meet, and being supportive and encouraging to book members.
10. Are there other activities this book club participates in? Yes. We occasionally participate in activities, such as going to the movie, painting, etc.
*Memberships are renewed yearly on your anniversary date of joining. Therefore, you are committing to a minimum of 4 book meets a year and can consider rejoining when your membership status becomes inactive.

We also host book authors, where we read and discuss their book. We typically read Historical Fiction, Memoirs/Biographies, Mystery, and Literature/Contemporary Fiction.
To read your book, the book club asks that authors attend the book meet to answer any questions book members had and so that you can provide any background information, interesting facts behind the story, etc. Due to past experience, we are no longer skyping with authors. It tends to dilute the overall experience for our members and it seems the interactions aren't as lively as they are when authors are present.
As a thank-you, authors provide autographed bookmarks/cards to the book club members. All requests can be sent to: booksintheburbs@gmail.com.
Our group is currently closed to new members as more members would make our meetings unmanageable. This is a local Clear Lake, TX area book club for women who want to read more great fiction. Our general age range for members is 25-45, but we don't card at the door. The theme for the group would be that all the book selections would be from Peter Boxall's list of greatest novels of all time, aka "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die." Boxall (a British English Professor) compiled the list based on input from 105 critics, editors and academics. Our group is geared toward Moms with little ones born from April 2007 to today.
We are a private group for the safety of our moms and tots. Please include bio info and a picture of you and your tot so we can recognize you at your first meetup.

About our playdates: -Most playdates are scheduled during the day on weekdays. -We try to have in home playdates weekly with other age appropriate outings throughout the month. -Activities are geared toward pre-school, toddlers, and babies. On occasion we hold playdates focused on one of these group to let the kids have age specific play and interaction.

Looking for a group who likes to walk for fun, friendship or health reasons? Looking for good company? You found the group! Walk and enjoy a nice meal at an optional picnic at the park, at a diner, or a restaurant after the walk. The hike will be between 3-8 miles with opportunity to start or quit at designated points. Pace will be at about 2 - 3 miles/hour.
Cook-outs as well as various dining options will be featured after each hike. Foodies can enjoy different types of BBQ, from good ol' Texas BBQ, burgers and sausages to Kebabs, Korean Bulgogi, Thai Chicken "Gai Yang", Indian Tandoori, Peking Duck just to tickle your appetite. We will explore diners, greasy spoons and restaurants near and around Jesse Jones Park. This is a fun and health conscious group. Walk and eat in moderation to ensure good health.
DISCLAIMER: By going on the hike, you agree to assume all risks of the hike, and that no one at Meetup including the organizer is responsible for your safety. You take all risks when joining an event. Be of reasonable fitness or experience to embark on the hikes. The organizers schedule hikes, map the trails, show the way, and take head counts before and after and be able to explain if there is a difference.
The following is a basic list of things to bring on a hike. Once you have experienced a few hikes, you will be able to adjust your needs accordingly. Your body should tell you what to pack, like pain killers, blister tapes, towel, wipes; but whatever you add, the items in the list below is a must.
1. Good hiking boots or trail shoes with a good pair of wicking socks
2. Water – at least 2 liters, 3 liters during the summer months 3. A snack bar or fruit for mid-hike break
4. Shorts or comfortable hiking clothes
5. Sun screen
6. Mosquito repellent
7. Hat
8. A light raincoat or poncho
9. A day pack to carry all of the above

The purpose of this Meet Up is to create a moms support group for the next phase of mothering. As kids enter the school years, new challenges and issues arise, but the need for a social-network and support remains. Come join a community of moms as we tackle the challenges and issues that arise with our school-aged children.
The age cut off is to have a child at least age 5 to age 12 (as the oldest child). Must live in Missouri City, TX or Sugar Land, TX just for logistics of meeting up.
This Meet Up will also focus on obtaining an economy of scale for group discounts for our children. Example, for plays, water parks, classes offered at Brazos Bend observatory.
In order to make this Meet Up a wholesome experience for all members this Meet Up is seeking moms who are: down to earth, responsible, will not expect other moms to baby-sit or watch your child during play , think out of the box for new opportunities and experiences for your children, willing to help make events happen, considerate and polite toward other moms and children. Basically seeking kind, fun loving, go getter moms that are willing to make things happen.
This group will only meet once a month for February, March, April, May 2012. During the Summer months we will meet more often as school is out and our schedules are more fluid.
We are currently closed to new membership at this time.
We are a group of moms who focus on educating and socializing not only our children but also ourselves. The moms and kids here are caring, friendly, fun-loving, and the most welcoming group you'll ever meet! We are centralized in Webster/League City, but we play in the entire Clearlake area which also includes Friendswood, Texas City, and Dickinson. We focus on at-home playdates, trips to the library and local parks, and we try to make time for adult interaction as well. Many of us have school age children, but our group is focused on the little ones under 5.
We have an attendance policy that requires new members to attend an event within the first month joining. And the rest of our policies and guidelines are available if you decide to join.

We are all from the Pearland area and typically schedule events after school. When school is not in session, we also make sure to have lots of fun events for the children in both the morning and afternoon. For this reason, please make sure when joining this group that your oldest child is minimally in PreK. (My children range from ages 0 to 5.) Another bonus of this group is the Monthly Book Club and Cooking Club which usually meet on a weekday evening, after the kids are in bed!

We started playing outside volleball 2 years ago and we have quite a few people enjoying it. We play on Sunday evenings and sometime on Wednesdays. Sometimes we need more players. If you like/love volleyball, like we do, please join us.
